With these
simple tips…
Do you feel like you have too many clothes, but you have nothing to wear? If your answer is YES, than read on. Because this means it’s
time to reorganize your closet! Because probably you do have lots of clothes, but they are hiding in the back of your closet. Waiting for you
to finally use them!
Tip 1: Empty your closet
Make sure
your closet is completely empty before you start sorting your clothes. Create three piles:
- Give away/sell
- Not for this season; these you’re going to hide somewhere in your closet or any kind of stock space.
- Spring clothes; these you want to keep in sight.
Tip 2: Be hard on yourself
Everything you didn’t wear last spring, you probably won't wear this spring either. Stop thinking certain pieces will come in
handy sometime. Because
usually they won’t. They will only fill your closet with no other purpose than to determine that you have a closet full of clothes, but nothing to wear (Carrie Bradshaw Ref.)
Tip 3: Put on some music
Listening to music makes most things easier. Especially
cleaning! Here you have my go to Spotify playlists for when I’m cleaning. J
Enjoy!
Tip 4: Be creative
Try to redesign.
Example: transform an old/worn pair of jeans to a true fashion piece by creating cut-outs, ruffles (you can do this easily with a razor), bleach stains, …
Tip 5: Use your space efficiently
Create space.
Use thin clothing hangers, you can find them on Amazon. It’s also recommended to use only one certain type of hanger, this will create unity and rest. Another tip is to use velvet hangers,
they will prevent you clothes from falling off the hanger.
Place your shoes front to back. By having one
shoe facing forward and the other backwards, you will create space and it will
give you a glance at both sides of the shoe.
Get a free standing rack (like this one from Ikea).
This will again create space, but you can also use it in order to put certain
pieces in the spotlight. You’re more
likely to wear something if you see it a lot.
