Our Skin Types

Friday 28 February 2014

Hi there!

Before we talk about all our favourite skin-care or make-up products, I wanted to talk about our skin types. This way, you can understand why we pick certain products over others since it is probably based on OUR skin. Every skin type is different so for future reference: make sure to pick a product based on YOUR skin type. Because some products might be better for our skin, but not for yours.

Without further ado, here are our skin types:

Molly: My face is a mix between combination and oily skin. Combination skin means there is more than 1 skin type in your face area. I have a dry skin but it has the tendency to get very oily during the daytime, especially in the T-zone. I also have acne around my mouth and chin area. (This might come as a shocker to you but you get pimples your whole life if you don’t take care of your skin. They don’t just disappear because you’ve reached your twenties. Oh, how I wish that were true!). I usually buy matte products so I don’t create extra shine. Also: blotting sheets are my best friend!
As for skin care, I like gentle gel-or cream-based cleansers. It is very important to have a good product, that matches your skin, to cleanse your face. For example: do NOT use cleansers for acne if you don’t have any pimples. It will be too harsh on your skin.

Amal: My skin is a combination of oily and dry skin. It tends to get greasy in my T-zone, but it can also happen that the skin on the apple of my cheeks gets covered by dry spots. I recommend using a matte foundation, in a foam-like consistency to people with only oily skin. For me, having a combination skin type, it’s not such a good idea. Why? Because when I use it, it definitely works for my T-zone, but it makes my dry spots even dryer. That’s why I use a foundation based on water.

After trying different types of foundation, it just feel like it’s the right type for me. Of course it doesn’t take away all my oil, but it’s OK. If I feel like my skin is still too oily, I use a mineral powder on top. Which leaves me with that perfect matte finish. And of course … BLOTTING PAPER IS MY LIFESAVER! :-)

Hope you liked this post!

love,
Molly
