The best mascara ever!

Monday 10 March 2014

If you're like me and you love trying out new mascaras, then this post is definitely for you! I've struggled for so long finding the perfect mascara for my lashes. I have asian roots so my lashes are straight and kind of go downwards. And the worst problem: they won't curl. At all.

I've tried a bunch of mascaras and I combined it with eye lash curlers but they would always fall back throughout the day. But I recently found the perfect mascara: "Better Than Sex" from Too Faced. It's a little pricy but it's absolutely amazing and definitely worth the price! It curls my lashes and makes my eyes look bigger. The bristles are shaped as an hourglass so it will flare out the outer corners of the lashes, which I love! It leaves no clumps and makes your lashes look full but it coats each lash individually so they don't stick together. If you curl your lashes with a lash curler first, you will achieve an even better look! So to all my asian girls out there: look no further! This mascara is great for you and your straight lashes!

Red lips

Hello!

To be honest, I'm not a girl who wears bright colours on her lips a lot. Well, except for red. I think red is such a classic colour and if I could travel back in time, I would definitely choose the fifties. Or the medieval times (don't ask why, just something about knights and horses and castles...)

Anyway, back to the colour red. It's a lip colour you can wear with any outfit, even if your outfit doesn't have red in it. When people think of red lips, they immediately think of a classy and formal outfit. But recently, women have been wearing it as an everyday look and I absolutely love it! Your outfit can be monotonous and bland but add some bright red lips and POP! You stand out and you can make any clothes ensemble look amazing with some colour. You can wear yesterday's clothes or even a plastic bag but add some red lipstick and nobody would notice anything other than your lips.

There are different kinds of red lipsticks. I like matte colours since they tend to stay on longer and it's a little more subtle. Well, the subtlest a red lip could get of course. The three lipsticks pictured below are my favourite. They stay on all day and don't require much touching up (unless you're a very messy eater/drinker).

Here are 3 of my favourite red lipsticks:
107 Kate Moss collection from Rimmel
01 Kate Moss collection from Rimmel
Rouge Vermeil from PHAS

Here are some swatches:

Do you wear red lipstick? Which one is your favourite? Comment below!

What to do on a Friday night?

Sunday 9 March 2014

Finding new things to do with your friends on a Friday night could be a bit challenging. Doing the same activities over and over again could get boring after a while. Here you can find some tips on spending your Friday night – or whatever night you’d like to spend with your friends – so you won’t have to go to that same club every time you get together.

Bowling

Bowling is a lot more fun than some people might think. This game comes with a whole experience. While bowling, you get the chance to lounge with your friends and get some drinks. In between turns, you get enough time to keep your friends updated about everything that’s going on in your life.

If you’re looking for a more ‘party like’ atmosphere, then you should try going to a disco bowling. Many bowling clubs organize these kind of events. You’ll find yourself in a room that’s nicely lit, with nice music on which you can enjoy some dancing. It makes everything feel much more like a ‘going out night’.

Karting

Forget about everything and go for the adrenaline rush. Racing is a fun activity to do with a big group of friends because it comes with a lot of hilarity. There’ll always be that one friend who’s racing is way to slow or that one girl that thinks she’s the best but then fails in her final lap. After the race, you can go to the bar and get some drinks while you discuss each other’s driving skills.

Go to a ball dance

Going to a ball is the perfect excuse to splurge on a nice dress and get all dressed up. Before attending the ball, you can come together with your girls to do each other’s makeup.

On these kind of events, you’ll get the illusion of being in a fairy tale like Cinderella or something. Maybe you’ll even get to meet your very own prince charming!

Oh and please don’t be afraid of having to listen to Bach all night, balls nowadays are perfectly filled with contemporary music. So instead of Bach, expect Jay-Z.

Private spa

Going to a spa is the perfect idea when you just want to relax with your friends after a stressful time or just because you think you deserve it. You’ll have plenty of time to catch up with your girls. It’s the perfect place for deep conversations.

A private evening at the spa isn’t even that expensive. The nice thing about it is that you can split the bill. Let’s say an evening at the spa costs around 200 euros, then it’s only 20 euros per person if you go with a group of 10 friends. That’s like no money, considering all the facilities and services you can use.

Concert

You could go to a concert for many reasons; to support your favorite artist, to just enjoy the music, for the atmosphere or to have fun with your friends. And that’s what we’re talking about in this post!

The whole atmosphere will give you the nicest feeling and will get you to escape from reality. You will definitely have a blast with your friends. Great moments only strengthen the relationship with your friends. And that’s just great.

It also gives you the opportunity to create great memories with your friends and it’s a night that you’ll never forget because you’re in the same room as one of your music idols. Maybe you’ll even get the chance to touch one of your idol’s hand, it will forever be a memory. A memory that you’ll get to share with your friends.

Jewelry home party

This is a party at home where you invite somebody who represents a jewelry brand. That person will bring a whole collection with her/him to your house. You, on the other hand, will have to provide drinks and snacks.

It’s foreseen that this person gives a whole explanation about the brand and it’s collection.

Afterwards you’ll get the chance to buy something. In that way you can get together with your friends while buying your latest’s must haves to spice up your jewelry collection. All in one night. Awesome, don’t you think so!?

Voila, these are some of the things I like to do with my friends. Oh and I really recommend starting some kind of 'partygroup' on Facebook. Everytime somebody has something in mind to do, he or she has to post it in the group, that way there's always something to do! I have one with my friends and it's our central point to arrange 'dates'.

I hope I gave you some inspiration. Do you have other fun things to add? Let us know in the comments!

My spring make-up essentials

Hi!

It's almost spring! One of my favourite seasons, along with fall. You could say I like the inbetween seasons, it's not too cold nor too hot. I also like spring because of the fashion and make-up. You don't have to layer up on a million sweaters, scarves and mittens. You can finally wear your favourite pair of bright-coloured jeans and flats. And the make-up is so light and colorful ... Ahhhh, I can't wait!

I don't like wearing heavy make-up during spring/summer. Instead, I just wear concealer to cover up redness and blemishes. For eye make-up, I like wearing brown eyeliner instead of black. Or you can also go for purple or blue eyeliner/eyeshadow. Those colors are perfect for spring!

"Coralista" by Benefit is currently my go-to blush. It's a corally-pink colour with a little golden shimmer in it. And to match the blush, "Colour Boost - Peach on the beach" from Bourjois. It's a cheap lip balm that is moisturising and they have pretty colours. You do have to re-apply during the day but overall I do like it. Another lip product that I like a lot is Tarte. It's an eco-friendly and cruelty-free cosmetic product. They have a wide range of make-up products. "Hope" is a pink, matte colour that stays on all day. It tastes like peppermint and smells amazing. On my nails, I like using Essie. Essie has such a big variety of colours and they stay on for a long time without any chips. My favourite is "French Affair" which is a pastel pink.

I'm currently using the Fa "Mystic Moments" deodorant. I don't know why but I prefer using spray deodorants during spring/summer and the roll-on deodorants during autumn/winter. Probably because the spray-kinds give you a "fresher" feeling. I love the hand sanitizers from Bath&Body works. Every time I go to one of these, I always stock up on the 5 for $5 because we don't have them in Belgium. For perfume, I use "La vie est belle" from Lancome. I absolutely LOVE this scent. It's floral and fresh. I finished mine not too long ago, so I'm using the samples they gave me when I bought it.

You can add a flower crown to your outfit to make it more girly and fun. And of course: don't forget your sunnies!

Hope you liked this post,

Zoeva Bamboo Make-up Brushes Review

Tuesday 4 March 2014

Hi there!

I recently bought some new make-up brushes since I desperately needed some! After searching the web for a while, I found Zoeva. My friend Eva recommended these to me and I checked out their website. At first I was just planning to buy a foundation brush, but then I was looking at sets and it's way cheaper than buying just one brush.

Zoeva is a German brand founded by Zoe Boikou. They started with brushes but when the company grew, their collection grew with them. Now they also sell eye, lips and face make-up. I have not tried any of their make-up yet but I bought the  Bamboo Pinsel Set. They sell it for 30 euros, which is reasonable price for 12 brushes. I bought them online and a few days later, they arrived on my doorstep.  The brushes come in a roll-up travel bag so it is small enough to take with you anywhere you go.

This set includes:
a buffer to apply and blend foundation
a powder brush to apply pressed and loose powder
a foundation brush to apply liquid foundation
a fan to sweep away fall-out, but I also use it to highlight my cheekbones because it has a very light touch
a blush brush: an angled brush to apply blush or you can also use this for contouring
a lip brush: a small and fine brush to apply lip products
an eye blender to blend out eyeshadow
a crease brush to apply eyeshadow in the crease of your eyelids
2 shader brushes (a big one and a smaller one) to apply eyeshadow all over your lids
a liner to apply eyeliner
a concealer brush to apply concealer under the eyes or to cover up redness and blemishes

The handles are made of bamboo and the bristles are synthetic taklon bristles. The brushes are very soft and it's very easy to use. I use them almost every day. I especially like the buffer brush because it blends my foundation perfectly and leaves me with a natural look. Another favourite is the blush/contouring brush. It's the perfect size for my face since it's not too big or too small.

Over all, I like this set a lot and I'm glad I purchased it. Do you have this set at home? Or do you have any other products from Zoeva? Let us know in the comments!
